Hey guys, I'm Harry. I'm studying in Wellingon, New Zealand - Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing. I have a huge passion for raw and selvedge denim and I have channeled this into my job as a writer for rawrdenim.com. My pair of Spikes X001 in size 30 arrived at my hall today ;D (i'm sitting in them right now) and I love them to bits. That leather patch has got to be my favorite detail so far (big call). Here's my thread that I will try to update with photo's 2-3 times per week showing my progress/what my railcars are up too. Here's a pic of my new favorite jeans still in their packaging to kick this thread off. Check back regularly for updates!!

As someone who loves raw denim, what drew you to the Railcar brand?

As someone who loves raw denim, what drew you to the Railcar brand? Hey man! I originally discovered the Railcar brand through reading rawrdenim.com (check em out)! The main reason that I got a pair was the fit of the Spikes jeans. Of course I loved the handmade in the USA aspect as well as the beefy leather patch (as I mentioned before) however it was such a treat for me to find a pair of raw denim that had a slim fit with a truly slim leg opening. A lot of brands produce "slim fit" jeans with a 7.5"-8.5" leg opening but I was after a pair with a slimmer profile (some might say that I should have looked at a skinny option but being an ex-competitive road cyclist restricted my options in the thigh/calf area). Being based in NZ, it is hard for me to appreciate the details of a pair of raw denim because there are literally NO stockists. I am restricted to online shopping and therefore I rely a lot on forums/blogs and reviews in order to make an educated pick. I have to say, having the denim in my hands makes me truly appreciate the details a lot more rather than just reading about them. The denim feels great and the selvedge details on the button fly (nice buttons by the way) and coin pocket look awesome. I hope that answers your question.

Pics of the jeans after Day 1 (don't worry guys, this won't be a daily thing - I just couldn't resist)! Please excuse the photo's on my bed (my dorm room is tiny). Also from now on all the photos will be taken under better lighting conditions etc as I realise that they aren't the best quality. Fit pics to come soon! ;D

A cold spell finally rolled in too Wellington this week. Me and my twin bro Alex took a few snaps on our way to Uni this morning. He's really into his photography - check out some of his other stuff over on instagram: @alexandathgreat Here's a few pics that show the details of my Spikes X001 after two weeks of solid wearing. They've been slightly edited but no touch ups or color enhancement was done. The color of the denim here is just a little lighter than in person. Alex and I are both avid denim heads and live extremely similar lives (same hall of residence, same daily activities - we're best friends). We had the idea to wear identical pairs of denim every day for a year and seeing how they fade differently despite being put through near identical activities. We're in the process of setting up a blog to document the fades - now we just need a denim company willing to participate (we're both on student budgets). We'd love to hear what you think of the idea. WATCH THIS SPACE. Harry

Today marks one month since I first put on the Spikes! I'm really liking the way the denim has softened up.
Photo's to come.
