Just sold a pair of RedWing Iron Rangers. I found them really uncomfortable. I wear flat soled shoes (Converse) a lot and would love to find a boot with a similar shape. I thought about the 1000 miles but I'm afraid of having the same issues I had with the RedWings. Any thoughts?

The ones I have are actually pretty flat on the inside, only suggestion I have is to go into a store and try them on.
*I think I misunderstood what you were saying and thought you were talking about the inside of the boot.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find high quality boots with flat soles...unless you go with wedge/fishbone soles. I'm not a fan of those but for a time, I was looking at the Allen Edmonds Eagle County boots. You may like these a bit more... All boots will have at least a slight rise to the heel (promotes better walking posture). P.S. I love my Wolverine 1K Miles...I own Red Wings as well...but these...these boots are amazing (comfort-wise and aesthetics).

I guess you'd call them zero drop shoes, meaning they are even from heal to toe with no rise in the heel. Those AE's look great but $$$!

True...they're $$$ but I think shoes emphasize the concept that, "You get what you pay for," even more than denim

No doubt about $=quality. I'd like to get some Alden Indy's or 1000 Miles if I can find a decent used pair.
Maybe I'll just get some beeswax Clark's DB for the time being. It'd be nice to have some new leather boots to age alongside the contest jeans.
