I went to Alden in SF to try on some cordovan shell. I also tried on the Indy boots, but I didn't like them much at all...mostly because of the tacky white thread on the vamp and the "pointed" shape of the toe box when looking down on the boot.
However, it's very beautiful made and the side silhouette is nice. I'd definitely recommend getting the one in chromexcel over any other colorway -- for obvious aesthetic reasons.
Clarks DB in Beeswax are great, affordable boots.

My friend is trying to convince me to get the Clarks DB in grey leather. The stock photos are not at all what they look like in real life. They look more brownish and probably darken with age/polishing. Think they'd look good with the darkness of the contest jeans? EDIT: Just found the Olive leather too. The top picture might actually be of the Olive color but I can't really tell. I included the stock Olive photo too. vs.

No lie...the olives are pretty nice. I still prefer brown/tan leather, but the color in the picture is not a bad alternative...at all.
I actually just kinda accidentally/purposely re-dye my beeswax Clarks to a very dark brown. It looks pretty nice (I'll post a picture later).

I just found the thread where those pics are posted. That guy bought Gray Leather Clarks and coated them with sno-seal to get them darker. I might try it! I think they look excellent with dark denim. Here's the whole album: imgur.com/a/dXBbN
